POTTSBORO, Tex. -- The school zone speed limit in Pottsboro changed from 35 to 25 miles per hour on Wednesday.
The section along FM 120 near Pottsboro High School has been a concern for many community members.
After TX-DOT conducted a study on the FM 120 Corridor in January, they found there was an indication to lower the speed limit and warranted a change for the speed limit to be reduced.
City manager Kevin Farley feels this was much needed around the high school, especially since there are so many young drivers.
"We hope that the lower speed will help reduce potential accidents and accidents at that location," Farley said.
Farley says that police officers will be giving out warnings for the first month in that area.
