ARDMORE, Okla. -- An Ardmore school administrator is being recognized with a prestigious award. Superintendent Dr. Ruth Ann Carr will be presented with the 2008 Excellence in Educational Leadership Award.
It is given by the University Council for Educational Administration, a consortium of major research universities. The award is unique in that it is national, but the recipients are selected by individual universities.
Dr. Carr was selected and nominated for this award by faculty members of the University of Oklahoma.
"The award is for excellence and leadership. My understanding is I was nominated for my work in trying to encourage other educational leaders to pursue excellence in what they do, and also mentoring young educators that might want to become administrators," Dr. Carr said.
Dr. Carr is one of only 32 educational leaders in the nation to receive the award.
The ceremony takes place Friday night at Noble Stadium at 7:20 p.m.
