GRAYSON COUNTY, Tex. -- Rollback elections are just around the corner for several Texas school districts. It is a chance that residents have to vote on proposed tax increases in a half-dozen school districts in Texoma.

Sherman, Denison, Howe, S&S, and Collinsville are set to hold elections Saturday.

Van Alstyne is scheduled to hold its rollback decision in November.

Six of the districts holding the rollback are in Grayson County.

To find out where to vote, click "Schools" in the navigation link above or this link and then click on your school district.

Why should I have to pay school taxes at all if I homeschool my children???

Vote! is correct, the state takes (not matches) dollar for dollar what tax dollars the city collects. If this vote passes, that changes. Also, take a look at Dallas and Denison ISDs. How do you think their school systems are going to turn out? Teacher cuts and cuts in pay means good teachers go to greener pastures.

In reply to vote Who are the higher ups that you are talking about? Do you think they would tell you anything different? It is time that they had to watch their spending just like anyone else. They will be just fine if the rollback fails just without some of the extras that have nothing to do with a child getting an education. It is time that public employees exhibit some control over what they spend and starting with this rollback is a good place to start. Spending more to get more is what is wrong with our nation and it will eventually have to stop.

Please consider coting for this rollback or TRE. For every "new" tax dollar SISD collects, TEA takes away a dollar we already had. All of the money coming in from new businesses doesn't really stay in the school district! Please read and try to understand beofre you cast your election. I have been told by "higher ups" ehat will happen if this doesn't pass and it is not good!

If you tell people on the evening news that the polling places are available on your web site, you need to give some advice on how to find them! It took over 30 minutes last night, clicking all over your web site, to finally track down the polling places, buried in the Sherman ISD web site. I suggest you tell folks to click on "Schools" on the top bar area, then on the school district in question.
