About 80 second graders from Terrell Elementary School took a tour of the downtown area including the historic Katy depot and the Red River Railroad Museum.
There, they were able to see the how the trains work and learn about train safety, something railroad treasurer John Scott says is very important to the people of Denison.
“Railroads are still a big part of the scene in Denison, and there are just a lot of people employed by the railroad,”said Scott.
Students also visited the police station and radio stations.
