SHERMAN, TX - Austin College is welcoming their new president this week. Dr. Marjorie Hass takes over Wednesday as the college's first female president in the school's 160 year history.
Hass says she is excited to make the transition from former provost at Muelenberg College in Pennsylvania to president at Austin College. She says she plans to work on publicizing the college's strengths and getting the most out of every dollar, especially in tough financial times.
Hass calls the college a remarkable place with a rich history.
“It’s exciting to be the first woman to hold this office at Austin College. It's an amazing thing though because the college has such a long history of educating women and producing female leaders, so I don't really feel much like a pioneer as I do another in a long line of women who have been a part of this community," Hass says.
Hass's husband will also serve on the faculty at Austin College.
