DENISON, TX -- The results are in, and Denison schools scored well with the Texas Education Agency. Two-thirds of the district’s schools rated as exemplary in the annual accountability results.

The ratings are based on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) test.

This is the first time Denison's largest elementary school, Terrell Elementary, received the coveted exemplary rating.

To be an exemplary school, 90 percent of the students must pass the TAKS in all areas tested.

Denison ISD Superintendent Dr. Henry Scott says he is proud of the school district's results and credits the dedication of students, parents and faculty for the high marks.

Sherman has five exemplary campuses, and only Gainesville ISD received an 'academically unacceptable' ranking among Texoma school districts.

You can see all of the Texas school rankings at the link below.

I live in Sherman, and SISD will never be a Denison ISD with the current leadership...Teacher? Hambrick is more concerned with building himself a new office rather than help kids.

Its a shame that all year the only the things the students study if taks test. Its all a big joke. I can Ace any test, and not remember, or understand any of it. Its all in the memory. Not the know how.

It seems strange to me that so many schools went Exemplary this year. What was the big change? Was the test too easy or did they change the rules?

Can you imagine what Sherman could do if they had a Super like Dr. Scott? First not only scores would go through the roof. Dr. Hambricks solution is to hire more non classroom staff resulting in low pay and benefits for the rest of the employees.

The recent changes to the accountability system inflates ratings given to schools. I would like to know what schools earned Exemplary by passing 90% in all subgroups....Sherman schools have inflated ratings...

I question how many schools got TPM exceptions to raise their ratings. This system was advocated by Dallas ISD to inflate ratings. How many schools in Grayson Co. got them the old fashion way, 90% or above in all sub-groups? I would like to see a story on that....
