BELLS, TX -- Due to a high rate of absences due to flu at Bells Schools this week, there will be no classes Friday at any of the campuses.

Bells High School Principal Will Steger says 23% of Bells High School students were absent Thursday.

Steger says custodial staff will clean and sanitize all the schools on Friday and possibly work through Saturday.

All campuses will reopen on Monday.

It is not a big deal for the guys to play football. One of the main reasons to close school is for the school to be sanitized and allow any germs in the building and on surfaces to die. This also allows the sick children a three day weekend to help them get well without taking a sick day. Part of the problem is parents not keeping the sick children out of school until they are well. Hopefully all the children who are ill will not go to the game and will stay home to get well, but the healthy players should have the right to play.

Concerned Parent! Ok school is closed on Friday. I understand that rules must be upheld for alot of things But they are playing a football game with HoneyGrove which is also closed? Do you think that they are just as much risk with health issues playing a game and several sitting in close contact at the games. I doubt they will be handing out hand santizer. I think we need to take a close look Safety is safety. If school is closed then why is there a game?
