DENISON, TX - Fannin County is one step closer to a new Grayson County College branch campus near Bonham.
Grayson County College marketing director Shelle Cassell says a meeting of the board of trustees is set for next month to determine whether or not to hold an election on the issue.
Yesterday the trustees accepted a petition with more than 1,100 signatures asking for that election.
If the campus is approved, Fannin County voters would pay the same property tax rates Grayson residents pay which equals about 91 dollars a year for $50,000 home.
Cassell says the revenue generated by the tax would fund the new facilities, and if approved, Fannin County students would pay lower in-district tuition rates.
