ANTLERS, OK -- Antlers Public Schools are about to receive a big chunk of federal grant money--to the tune of nearly 3 million dollars!
U.S. Congressman Dan Boren announced today that Antlers Public Schools were awarded $2.7 million through a US Department of Education Program.
The money will be used to build a new elementary school, to replace Brantley Elementary, which is severely water damaged.
Not only has the water weakened floor joists and flooring, it has led to mold problems and safety concerns.
The new building will be an energy efficient, steel structure and should be complete within 12 months after the funding arrives.
Antlers Public Schools will provide $100,000 in addition to the federal grant to build the new facility.
