SHERMAN, Tex. -- Former Bearcat football star Trenell Walker spoke to Sherman High School teens early Wednesday morning in the school auditorium. Walker received a standing ovation from the kids. The former football player was paralyzed back in 1995, after being hit on the second play of a game in Wichita Falls.
Thirteen years later, he's back telling young people to not give up on their dreams.
Since the injury, Walker has graduated from a four-year college and also attained his master’s degree.
Walker has raised questions about the safety on the field and whether ninth graders should ever be bumped up to a varsity team.
