ARDMORE, OK - Ardmore students could get two extra weeks of summer vacation.

At the school board's meeting Friday, they will look at revising the district calendar as recommended by officials and the possible hiring of a new principal at Ardmore High School.

New Superintendent Sonny Bates says the calendar revision is being proposed to safeguard students, cut costs, and complete several projects that have been delayed this summer.

That meeting is set for 1 p.m. Friday at Ardmore High School. We'll let you know what they decide.

this is not any different than when Ardmore started late due to the construction work at one of the school sites, that was going on some years back. they didn't start until after Labor Day, and got out the last week of May. it worked then it WILL work now.

I got the same thing and an email. If they are only thinking about pushing back classes why did they send out the mass email/calls? Obviously they have already decided. Look at their website, enrollment is pushed back already!

The email and phone messages that we recieved stated that ardmore WILL start school on August 31st. It also mentioned that a revision to the calendar has been proposed but left no question in my mind that the date had already been pushed back. With the changes made by the state a few years back allowing schools to operate on an hourly school year rather than a set number of days, the school can easily increase the school day by about 30 minutes and not have to
