SHERMAN, TEXAS -- Hundreds of people lined the streets of downtown Sherman for the High School Homecoming parade.
The band kicked off the parade at the Municipal building and dozens of female students from nearly every club at the high school rode through the streets in decorated cars to represent their organization.
Students say the tradition is one of the most special highlights of homecoming week because it shows the diversity of Sherman High School.

"The girls really are the representation and the core of what Sherman High School is and everyone is really an individual and this parade shows the individuality that Sherman High school has," said Erin Rodriguez of the Sherman HS Hi-Steppers.

The Sherman Bearcats will take on Mt. Pleasant Tigers this Friday at 7:30 at Bearcat Stadium.

You call that a parade? There was a band, the Hi-Steppers, and a long line of cars with possibly every senior girl in the school! No floats or anything else to make it look like a true parade! And, just like at the Christmas parade, the City failed to do their part and NOT allow parking on the streets of the parade route, making it difficult to see even if you wanted to. The girls were all lovely, but I wouldn't call it a parade.
