Rachel Knapp is a News Reporter.
Rachel Knapp joined the News12 team in August 2016 as an Ardmore reporter, and she is excited to begin her journalism career in Texoma. She is now reporting from the Sherman studios.
Rachel was born in Austin, Texas and grew up in nearby Round Rock. She chose to follow in the steps of "the most trusted man in America" -- journalist Walter Cronkite -- and earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Texas in May 2014.
While attending UT, Rachel was also part of the Texas Pom Squad, where she was able cheer on her favorite team directly from the sidelines.
During college, Rachel interned for the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders and assisted in the production of the TV show "Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team - Season 8." She worked with the team director, Kelli McGonagill Finglass, and her staff as they narrowed down the cheerleader candidates in the tryout process. Rachel also interned with FOX News Austin, where she apprenticed under seasoned reporters and solidified her desire to be a journalist.
Her father is a retired airline pilot who shared the joy of travel and adventure with his family. After college Rachel moved to Paris, France and became an Au Pair to 9-year-old triplet boys.
During her year abroad, she used the opportunity to travel to many other countries, including: Iceland, Hungary, Germany, England, Scotland and Italy. One day, Rachel would like to be a foreign correspondent.
In her free time, Rachel enjoys taking jazz and hip hop dance classes. She also considers herself an amateur chef and cooks every day. Rachel continuously works to improve her French speaking skills so you’ll often hear her practicing the language.
