Texas DPS seek help in fatal Sadler hit-and-run investigation

GAINESVILLE, Tex. (KXII) -- The Texas Department of Public Safety is asking for the public’s help in the investigation of a fatal hit-and-run crash that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.

The crash occurred at approximately 5:55 a.m. on Feb. 7 on U.S. Highway 82 near Sadler, between FM 901 and Whitesboro.

Brent Stone, 45, of Savoy was struck and killed.

The preliminary investigation indicated a black semi-truck tractor, possibly a Freightliner, was traveling west on U.S. Highway 82 when it traveled onto the shoulder to avoid a disabled vehicle in the roadway and struck a pedestrian.

Witnesses stated the truck was pulling a gravel trailer covered with a green tarp.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and render aid and immediately left the scene.
