1st annual 'Angel Run' for domestic violence victims happening Friday

DENISON, Tex. (KXII) -- The first annual "Angel Run" in Denison Friday evening will mark the 6 year anniversary of the murders of a local young woman and her unborn child.

On July 13th, 2012, 20 year old Ashleigh Lindsey and her unborn child, Patience Lynn, were murdered by her ex-boyfriend, Joshua Mahaffey, in her Kingston home.

Ashleigh's mother, Tara Woodlee, started the "Asheigh's Patience Project" which aims to help other women struggling with domestic violence situations.

On Friday, July 13th, Ashleigh’s Patience Project, Grayson County Crisis Center and many other local nonprofits and businesses are rallying the community together “to go the distance” for the 1st Annual Angel Run Mile Walk in memory of Ashleigh.

Proceeds raised from the event will fund academic scholarships for students impacted by abuse.

It's taking place beginning at 6 p.m. at the Waterloo Lake park pavilion. The actual walk will take place at 6:45 p.m.

You can find out more about the project at www.ashleighspatienceproject.com.
