PARIS, Tex. (KXII) -- Over 1,500 professional and amateur archers will compete in events through Sunday, including Thursday's Pro-Am team shoot held in memory of Lamar County's own Scotty Norell, a local archery pioneer.

Every major bow manufacturer in the United States has set up a booth at the Love Civic Center and will also hold demonstrations and lessons throughout the weekend.

They're an incredible group of people. Lamar County and the City of Paris have always been a great support. This is our twelfth year here and so in the last 12 years, we've become like family. We come into town and see the 'Welcome ASA' and it's fun," said ASA President Mike Tyrell.

People from ages six to over 70 will compete for over $200,000 worth of prize money this weekend.
