ATOKA, Okla. (KXII) -- A warrant was issued Wednesday for Steven Don Murray for animal abuse.

Murray, 40, of Atoka, is accused of abusing a puppy.

The Coalgate Animal Rescue took in an 8 week old pit bull mix named Nysha. The puppy had one ear cut off and the other ear partially severed.

Authorities believe Murray tried to crop the puppy's ears at home, and when it went wrong, he dumped the puppy.

Murray is still at large.
