PARIS, Texas (KXII) -- The North Lamar Board of Trustees voted at Monday night's meeting to deem older portables at Higgins Elementary as surplus and the district is moving on with plans with the newer portables brought in over the summer.
According to the district, a bid process will be put out for the removal of the old portables, while work will continue on the new portables at Higgins.
Assistant Superintendent Brandon Dennard says once the portables have electricity, some will be used for various purposes including temporary offices.
Right now, the portables at Bailey Intermediate are currently housing teachers, special programs and the library.
Dennard says the district is about to go into phase two of the forensic engineering study which will focus on Higgins and Bailey schools.
