Bonham Library hosting eclipse event

BONHAM, Texas (KXII) -- News 12 is bringing live coverage of the total solar eclipse Monday afternoon and the News 12 Paris team will be at the Bonham Public Library to witness history.

Library Director John Hayden says the event is for people of all ages to learn about what happens to make a solar eclipse occur and what happens when it does.

Viewing glasses will be provided to the first 200 guests, as well as free sun-and-moon-themed snacks, like sun chips and moon pies.

"I think it's an exciting thing to really teach these kids that have never seen this thing, ever in their lives," said Hayden. "Even some adults have never seen this in their lives as well."

A local retired educator will be at the library to conduct science experiments and a live stream of the eclipse will be playing on a movie-sized screen inside.

Hayden hopes hosting this program will encourage everyone to keep learning about the world around them.
