ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) - Several businesses in Ardmore are gearing up for the holiday season by adding more employees to their team.
"This is the time to deliver the holiday season to our customers and so it takes a lot of people," Heddlesten said.
Human Resource manager at Best Buy Distribution Center Lee Heddlesten says this year the company is looking to add up to 250 people to their staff.
They're looking for merchandise processors to help with online orders at $13 an hour and General warehouse workers, who will be paid $14 an hour.
"We don't really think of them as temporary workers, we think of them as part of our team," Heddlesten said, "we end up hiring some of them as full time workers each year."
And Best Buy Distributions is not the only business looking for more hands to help.
President of the Ardmore Chamber of Commerce Mita Bates tell us other distribution centers like Dollar Tree, Dot Foods and local retail shops are also looking to hire seasonal workers.
"These distribution centers are becoming even more important because they don't just provide to the retail, they actually provide it to that E-Commerce side as well," Bates said.
Bates says the amount of seasonal jobs available are consistent from last year which is good news for the city's revenue since it's dependent on sales taxes.
"That success feeds itself and creates the need for even more employee," Bates said.
