ADA, Okla. -- The Chickasaw Nation will host an Ada Area Job Fair 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 29, at the Chickasaw Nation Community Center, 700 N. Mississippi.
Area employers will be seeking applicants with varying levels of ability and education during the fair, which is open to the public.
Many industries will be represented, including healthcare, finance, retail, transportation, customer service, distribution, mechanical, food service, construction, manufacturing and industrial maintenance, among other fields.
Slated employers include, but are not limited to: Legal Shield, Mercy of Ada, Arbuckle Memorial Hospital, Oklahoma Department of Human Services, Pontotoc Technology Center, Globe Manufacturing, Ram Jack, Seth Wadley Auto Mall, Wal-Mart, Ballard Nursing Center, CD Brown Construction and Braum’s Ice Cream and Dairy Store.
Representatives from the Chickasaw, Choctaw and Seminole Nations will also be present during the job fair.
Companies and organizations with planned booths hail from Ada, Sulphur, Ardmore, Tecumseh, Durant, Wewoka, Catoosa, Pauls Valley, Holdenville, Mill Creek, Paoli and Tahlequah. Large cities like Norman, Tulsa and Oklahoma City will also be represented.
Private rooms will be available for employers who wish to interview on-site.
Event planners offered tips to help applicants guarantee their first impressions are positive.
They recommended dressing the part, bringing 10-20 copies of an up-to-date resume, practicing common interview questions, being knowledgeable in regards to desired positions and employers, as well as maintaining a courteous and cordial demeanor during interviews.
