PARIS, Texas (KXII) -- The City Council will vote next Monday to adopt an increased property tax rate.
At the council meeting Monday night, the rate was increased $50 per $100,000 your home is worth on the tax rolls.
City financial director Gene Anderson says this hike comes from the bond passed in May of this year to rebuild roads.
Anderson says in May, officials proposed the nickel increase as an estimate of what the repair efforts would cost.
He says the money from the increase will not only cover the repairs but also contribute to some operational expenses for the city.
