DENISON, Texas (KXII) -- The Denison Police Department hosted their second Coffee with Cops Wednesday morning at CJ's Coffee Cafe.
Ross Rolirad, one of the attendees, said he and his wife met three new officers at the event. He said now more than ever, the public's relationship with law enforcement needs strengthening.
"It's just more important for us to be out there, for us to meet the police, meet the guys that are out there, realize they're real people just like us," said Rolirad.
The event lasted for two hours, giving Denison residents an opportunity to either speak to officers about issues they may have or to show appreciation for their hard work.
"They're just doing an outstanding job, we like to be here to thank them for what they're doing," said Rolirad. "It's kind of a thankless job."
Lt. Mike Eppler said they held the event back in October for the first time as a way to connect with the people they serve.
"The community needs to know that they can approach any of us anytime about anything, just talk to us about it. That's what we're here for," said Eppler. "We're servants and part of being a servant is to listen to what people's concerns are."
Eppler said they plan to continue hosting this event quarterly for the public.
"We just want to invite people to come out and next time we have it, each time, just come out and join us," said Eppler.
