GRAYSON COUNTY, Tex. (KXII) - Tails are wagging in Sherman and Denison after the announcement of dog parks opening up in both cities.
Keith Coffin and his pup love taking summer strolls at Waterloo Park.
"We use this park daily with our dog," Coffin said. "It's a place where dogs can socialize with other dogs."
The Denison dog park is already underway.
The $100,000 project next to the playground at Waterloo will boast a gazebo, new benches, fountains and fire hydrants.
"If you can do a family activity like a picnic and bring your dog along and have a place where he can be safe, it's a big draw for people," Coffin said.
And it's not the only one.
We first told you in February about Sherman's new dog park. The $30,000 pet paradise will be built behind the baseball fields at Fairview park.
"These are facilities people want when they're looking at an area to relocate or make a change," Coffin said.
Both dog parks will have a separate area for big or small dogs. Locals like coffin think it says a lot about the growth in the cities.
"It's evidence the town is forward looking."
The Sherman dog park could be open as soon as October.
Denison's dog park should be complete in about six months.
