UPDATE: Friday Night Snow?
Thu 21 Dec/ 9:15 pm
Fresh evening model data and the latest upper-air analysis shows that there continues to be a moderate (40%) chance of snow Friday night; as an upper low tracks overhead (see map). Amounts, if any, would be light at less than an inch. Travel impacts, will be minimal; perhaps just a few patches of slush on bridges.
Also, ground accumulation will be low as well: after near-record warmth Thursday soil temperatures are in the upper 50s, and with surface temperatures expected to be right at freezing late Friday, it’s going to be tough to get much to stick. It will be a quick event; Saturday will dawn sunny and any snow that falls will melt very quickly.
So…your weekend travel plans will be affected very little if at all. And, there's no hope of snow for your Texoma Christmas....Sorry!
A reminder that any time there’s snow, patchy ice may form especially on bridges, so if you are driving in snow…slow down and play it safe.
This will be the last update on this event. Tune in to News 12’s broadcasts throughout the day Friday for updates.
Take Care and Merry Christmas!
