SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) -- The Grayson County fire marshals fired in July due to allegations of forging a document won't not face charges.

Sheriff Tom Watt says Kevin Walton and Kerry Price forged a signature on a fire equipment inspection report.

According to a press release from the district attorney's office, a firefighter told a superior he had witnessed Price holding a document up to a window and tracing over what appeared to be a signature.

Price says Walton told him to do it.

Walton at first denied it, but then admitted he knew it was forged when he turned it in.

The district attorney says the two were just trying to cut corners, the equipment worked fine, and no one was ever in danger.
