Gainesville bank robbed

GAINESVILLE, Tex. (KXII) - Gainesville Police said this man walked into the Prosperity Bank off California and Main around 9:30 and robbed it.

Authorities describe the robber to be a five foot ten white male with tattoos on his arms and neck, wearing a white tee, jeans and a black cap.

We're told the robber walked in, demanded money and fled on foot.

Law enforcement were called soon after.

This Gainesville man said he tried to call the bank right around the time the robbery happened, but didn't know why no one was answering the phones.

"Kept letting it ring and ring and ring and ring you know how that goes," said local Clemo Steubing. "And no answer and I'm getting upset really because I wanted to know if my checks have been reordered."

So Steubing paid them a visit, but was locked out. Just like James Richards, who also told us, businesses upstairs were on lock down due to the investigation.

"You can go up to the upper offices, there's an elevator that goes upstairs," Richards said. "Went to the bank to make a deposit, it's shut down, the drive thru is shut door, the front door is shut down."

Investigators aren't releasing how much money was stolen and if the robber used a weapon, but we're told no one was hurt.
