Grayson County hires law firm in fight against opioid epidemic

GRAYSON COUNTY, Tex. (KXII)- Grayson County has picked a local law firm to sue pharmaceutical companies over the opioid epidemic.

Grayson County commissioners are joining several counties around the country also filing suit, including Fannin and Cooke in the Texoma region.

The county has chosen Sanders Law Firm in Sherman, and Grayson County Judge Bill Magers said the lawsuit will not be a cost to taxpayers.

"The bottom line is, it is contingency based so it costs the taxpayers of Grayson County nothing unless we are successful in the litigation. The next step for us is to sign the contract, which should be done today, and then turn them loose," said Magers.

Judge Magers thinks the suit will be filed in Grayson County.
