GUNTER, Texas (KXII) -- The Gunter police department has set up two safe exchange zones in their parking lot.
This is so online buyers and sellers can feel safe while meeting up to make the transaction.
The area is lit up at night and monitored by security cameras 24 hours a day.
The safe zone can also be used for families with visitation rights to make custodial exchanges.
"There have been a lot of cases across the county of people buying things on line and when they meet up, it ends in a criminal act, like robbery or homicide," Chief Shawn Johnson said.
The program is called "Offer Up" and the police department says it didn't cost the city any money.
