Hottest Weather of 2017 Headed to Texoma

Texoma’s hottest weather thus far in 2017 is in my forecast through Sunday (July 23). It’s a really massive upper high and SSW low-level flow teaming up with stout July sunshine to make this possible. This will be nowhere near record heat, but locations from Sherman-Durant-Atoka westward will be close to 100 degrees with upper 90s farther east. Heat Indexes will run from 102 to 108 – pretty tough stuff.

A reminder to practice “Summer Sensibles” such as pacing yourself when out in the heat, drinking LOTS of hydrating fluids, wearing light-colored loose fitting clothing, and don’t forget the sunblock! You can avoid the worst of it by doing outdoor chores in the hours before 11 a.m. or after 7 p.m.

It’s always a good idea to check your A/C filter to keep it running most efficiently; keep an eye on elderly family or neighbors who don’t have air conditioning. NEVER leave people or pets in a hot car.
