Kingston Public Schools select new superintendent

KINGSTON, Okla. (KXII) -- Kingston Public Schools have chosen a new superintendent.

Current middle school principal and athtletics director Brian Brister will take over the position on July 1.

Brister has been with the district for 16 years, starting as a social studies teacher and basketball coach. He hass been in education for two decades.

The School Board made the decision this past Thursday during a special meeting, and will finalize the terms of his contract at their upcoming meeting Monday.

Current superintendent Ron Whipkey stepped down earlier this year...and will serve through June 30 -- the end of the school year.

Brister said he's excited to continue building on the school's success, and continuing to find ways to improve.
