LAMAR COUNTY, Tex. (KXII) -- Flags flew at half staff all over the country Tuesday to honor law enforcement members who have died in the line of duty.
Lamar County officials gathered to pay respects to people they knew and loved, as well as those who came long before their time.
"Just stopping for a minute and remembering that sacrifice is really important," said Paris Police Chief Bob Hundley.
"Yea, today, as you saw, we laid roses for the twelve fallen in our county," said Lamar County Sheriff Scott Cass.
According to the National Law Enforcement Officer Memorial Fund, 54 officers have died in the line of duty so far this year.
