ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) - "I secretly pray in my head and just ask God to please give me strength and keep me going," competitor Ryleigh Hucal.
12-year-old Ryleigh Hucal was a regional competitor for the Ultimate Ninja Athlete Association.
Saturday morning she won the Ninja Warrior style like competition held by Gauntlet Fitness gym in her age division.
"I started out really excited and then I got through it and I was like 'oh my gosh this is really happening' and I just got excited when he said I was the winner," Hucal said.
Hucal says the television show inspired her and her family to get involved with the gym.
She tells us she has been training for about a year and a half.
Kids 7 to 13-years-old also competed in the entry level tournament.
Shawn Mason, the owner of Gauntlet Fitness, says he and his wife Ashley opened the gym five years ago.
"We get a lot of kids in here who haven't really found their niche anywhere else and then they come in here and they can just hang on to things and be a kid and use their athleticism in a different way," Ashley Mason said.
Shawn Mason, who has been on the America Ninja Warrior show, says he held the tournament to get his little ninjas ready for their area competition in March and regionals in April.
"A lot of this is just to prepare them, to help them get to that, because it's hard to compete when you are in the middle of the course and also remember your training," Shawn Mason said.
Shawn says he is proud to work with these kids and hopes to keep their national title next year.
"It's the most rewarding thing I have ever done," Shawn said.
