Mailing deadlines for last minute holiday shipping

SHERMAN, Tex. (KXII) This is the one busiest weeks for post offices and if you still have things to send to loved ones, you're running out of time.

The rain did not stop customers from visiting by the Sherman Post Office on Peyton Street Tuesday afternoon.

"Maryland, California, Kentucky Austin and Florida," said Ella Fitzbag.

Those are just a few of the places she is shipping presents to.

Fitzbag made three trips out to her car so her loved ones could get the gifts underneath their Christmas trees before Christmas Day. And she wasn't the only one in Sherman shipping packages around the nation.

"Sending off some Christmas presents to my three boys in Minnesota."

With Christmas in just 6 days, time is running out.

Shipping deadlines for Postal Service, UPS, and FedEx are listed below:

Wednesday, Dec. 20: FedEx two-day, UPS 2nd Day Air, USPS Priority Mail

Thursday, Dec. 21: FedEx Overnight, UPS Next Day Air

Friday, Dec. 22: USPS Priority Mail Express

Monday, Dec. 25: FedEx Same Day

"I mean the line was long so I thought I'm probably going to be here a while."

According to the United States Post Office, nearly 3 billion pieces of First-Class Mail and greeting cards are expected to be sent out this week alone.

But Lindy Rogers says it took him less than 5 minutes to ship his items even though more than 15 people were in front of him in line.

"The process was smooth and quick," said Rogers. "The line was moving fast."

"They have all the packaging material here that I need," said Fitzbag. "So its really not that hard. I just have to be organized before I get here."

The Postal Service anticipates delivering more than 15 billion total pieces of mail this holiday season.
