PONTOTOC COUNTY, Okla. (KXII) - Perry Lott, 56, has spent the past 30 years in prison after being convicted of first degree rape and robbery.

Lott applied for the Innocence Project in 2004.

They began working on his case in 2012.

According to the Innocence Project (an organization that works to free innocent people convicted of crimes) DNA evidence led to his freedom.

A recent press release says Lott's DNA was not found on the victim's rape kit, that was retested in 2014.

Lott agreed to a sentence modification in the form of time served, he's now in Oklahoma City.
