SHERMAN, Tex. (KXII) -- A Sherman man is dead after a tractor accident Wednesday evening.

Sherman Fire officials said Gerald Plumlee, 42, was digging with an auger on the back of a tractor outside his home off of State Highway 56 and Independence Springs Road, and he became entangled in the auger.

Firefighters said Plumlee was found by his 12-year-old son, but when first responders got to the scene, he had already passed away.

Plumlee was a physical education teacher and basketball coach at Piner Middle School.
