MANNSVILLE, Okla. (KXII) -- A city treasurer accused of mishandling taxpayer cash was in Johnston County Court on Thursday.
Mannsville city treasurer Shonda Barnes appeared in Johnson County Court on Thursday She is accused of mishandling taxpayer money.
The state claims Mannsville treasurer Shonda Barnes got a state grant for fire equipment that hadn't yet been purchased.
Authorities allege it was Johnston County that ended up paying the bill later that year.
She was formally read her charge for mishandling about $4,000.
An audit in 2017 reportedly revealed nearly $80,000 had been mismanaged between 2011 and 2015, under Barnes' watch.
She is due in court in late February.
