ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) -- The state medical examiner's office has ruled last year's death of a Carter County jail inmate as accidental.
Sheriff Chris Bryant says the medical examiner found the 44-year-old man died of methamphetamine toxicity, from an overdose.
In September 2017, the man was brought in for public intoxication. But the next afternoon, collapsed in his cell.
He was taken to Mercy Hospital, where he passed away a short time later.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations was called to investigate, but at this time, there has been no word from them on what this ruling means for their investigation.
