Paris City Council approves rezoning of property for future emporium

PARIS, Tex. (KXII) - The Paris City Council unanimously approved a rezoning request at Monday night's meeting for a large emporium to come to East Hickory Street.

The more than 75,000 square foot Emporium will be located in the 200 block of East Hickory Street just across from the Paris Boys and Girls Club.

According to the city, that property owned by Harrison, Walker and Harper has been zoned for commercial since the 70's.

The property is now zoned for light industrial and specifically for a flea market or emporium.

We're told the existing buildings up front will stay and will be remodeled for retail and the back area of the property will be an open booth area for vendors to use and sell merchandise from Thursdays to Sundays.

We're told an exact time frame has not been determined on when the emporium will open.
