Paris Police officer allegedly assaulted by man upset with first responders

PARIS, Tex. (KXII) -- A Paris man is behind bars for allegedly assaulting a Paris police officer Wednesday night after he got upset with first responders.

Police say they were called to assist Paris EMS on a call around 7:30 Wednesday night at an apartment on East Cherry near Northeast 21st.

They say 64-year-old Gregory Mallory became upset at a paramedic and when an officer stepped between the two, Mallory swung at the officer with a closed fist.

Police reported he then scratched the officer on the neck and attempted to bite him.

Mallory is charged with assault on a public servant.
