PARIS, Tex. (KXII) -- A Paris man is in jail, accused of killing his girlfriend's dog.

Police arrested 22-year-old Chandler Blake McDonald Thursday on a warrant for animal cruelty.

They say the warrant stemmed from earlier this month when McDonald allegedly swung his girlfriend's dog into a post, intending to kill it.

The dog later died.

McDonald also had marijuana and meth on him during his arrest.

He is in Lamar County jail on possession and cruelty charges.
