Police search for suspected burglar

LONE GROVE, Okla. (KXII)-- Police are looking for the man who burglarized a Lone Grove home Wednesday afternoon.

A 19-year-old was home alone when he told police he awoke to the sound of a burglar in the kitchen of his parents' home on Newport road, just north of Myall Road.

He went downstairs and confronted the burglar, who ran off through the unlocked backdoor, taking a handgun and two bottles of liquor.

"Anytime a gun gets stolen, a gun's involved, there is a cause for concern," Lone Grove Police Captain Stephen Holland said. "Because we have no idea what his intentions with that gun may be."

The suspect is described as white, mid 40's, with a tattoo of a rose on his left shoulder and neck.

"It is sad people have to think they need to steal from other people. I don't like it, but it happens." Neighbor James Naylor said.

Holland is cautioning residents to always remember to lock their homes and cars.

"Especially coming up on the holiday season, people start buying more, and unfortunately, burglars know that too, and like to capitalize on that." Holland said.

Lone Grove police are asking residents to stay alert, and to call their department at (580) 657-4880, if anyone has any information.
