CLARKSVILLE, Tex. (KXII) -- A Red River County woman was killed Thursday night after she was hit by a car on State Highway 37.
Troopers say it happened Thursday just after 6 p.m., three miles north of Bogata.
Authorities said a car was northbound when the driver noticed someone trying to move a deer from the side of the highway.
Authorities said the driver saw that person, but didn't see 47-year-old Nita Strickland of Bogata standing near the center of the highway.
Strickland was struck by the car. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The report stated it was dark and the roadway had no lights.
No citations were issued.
