SHERMAN, Tex. (KXII) -- Officials with Schulman's Movie Bowl Grille - Bay City made it official Wednesday, stating the company would build its largest entertainment center in Sherman.
Schulman's Movie Bowl Grille announces its plans to build in Sherman.
Company officials said they hope to have the facility open by the end of 2018.
As for its previously announced development in Denison, Schulman's owner Mark Schulman said nothing has changed with those plans.
"You have two developments, a development in Sherman and one in Denison," he said. "Nothing has changed. We have a retail entertainment development center there. My focus is the Sherman project."
Schulman added, "Our energy is going forward in both areas."
In Sherman at the southeast corner of FM 1417 and U.S. Highway 75, they will offer bowling, arcade games, a full-service restaurant, and an 8-screen movie theater.
"(There will be) rock climbing walls, laser tag interactive amusements, 3D visual amusements and games," Schulman said. "You have a full service on site catering restaurant everything to support the vision of Sherman and getting to that next level."
The agreement gives him a cash grant of 50 percent of the sales tax generated over seven years, capped at $1.5 million.
"It wouldn't cost the city anything in the way the money we're giving him is money that has not even been generated yet," Sherman City Manager Robby Hefton said. "As he generates money we would just share a portion with him."
Schulman plans to invest $25 to $35 million and bring in hundreds of jobs.
Phase II of the development will also include a hotel and convention center.
