SHERMAN, Tex. (KXII) -- About a dozen Sherman ISD students and teachers are being recognized for their innovation and leadership.
The Sherman Education Foundation hosted its 18th annual Circle of Success Recognition Event at Austin College Tuesday night.
Sherman High School teachers were asked to nominate students. Those students then got the chance to nominate teachers.
Also at the event, 55 grants for the campus project ideas of different SISD educators were given out, exceeding $64,000.
Bethany O'Neal was one of Tuesday's student honorees.
"It's just a really big honor," O'Neal said. "You're representing the school, you're representing all the programs and then even the teachers that you are honoring too, they're being recognized for all the hard work that they do too, so it's just a really special thing."
To date, the Sherman Education Foundation has given more than $2.3 million to support the ideas of different educators.
