DENISON, Texas (KXII) -- A community-based campaign aims to increase mental health awareness in Sherman and Denison.
Along with Texoma Health Foundation, the Meadows Foundation launched the "Okay to Say" campaign Wednesday in Denison.
The goal is to encourage the community to speak openly about mental illness and the issues surrounding it.
Brian Aspell of Texoma Health Foundation says more than 20 groups in the area are showing their support, and they want to continue spreading awareness.
"This is going to benefit the community and going to benefit everybody that's suffering or dealing with mental health issues because so long we've been wanting to hide it and not talk about it," Spell said.
