DURANT, Okla. (KXII) - Folks in Durant won't have to go far to get to the beach this summer.
"It'll be a good place for people to sit, grab a bite to eat, play volleyball, play sand toys out here if they want to make sand castles," said Durant Main Street Director, Stephanie Gardner. "So just a good spot in our community for families to hang out."
The new beach area in Durant will have a picnic area, beach volleyball and sand box for the kids. Durant Main Street and Lake Texoma Association among other groups teamed up to have an area similar to Oklahoma City's Bricktown Beach. It opens this Saturday and will be open to the public seven days a week.
