ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) - Infectious Diseases Doctor Girish Murthy with Mercy Ardmore says warm weather brings out ticks.
Ticks can transmit serious diseases like Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and Southern Tick Associated Rash Illness.
Murthy says if you find a tick on your body use clean tweezers to remove it from your skin.
"The best way is to use tweezers because again if you try to use your fingers to break it off or smash it up, parts of the tick will break off and will get into the bite wound," Dr. Murthy said.
Murthy says to use bug spray with DEET, put your clothes in a dryer to kill any ticks and see your doctor if you've been bitten and are concerned.
