SHERMAN, Tex. (KXII) -- Christmas came early for more than 50 local kids, all thanks to the generosity of people right here in Texoma.
"I'm feeling like a butterfly, a happy, happy butterfly," 7-year-old Jazmyne Patterson said.
Kids of all ages come to the Sherman Housing Authority's community center after school every day, but Tuesday, the room turned into a Christmas celebration.
"They were excited that they could come and pick up any toy that they wanted," Sherman Housing Authority's Magalene Kirvin said.
"I got lip gloss and makeup in here," Jazmyne Patterson said.
"I got Star Wars," 6-year-old Christian Patterson said.
"Remote control car, these little rubber fingers," 11-year-old Keylan Martin said.
There were decorations, music and Santa with three presents for each kid.
"It was great, I felt happy today," 13-year-old Alexis White said.
"Joy, I love seeing people giving and getting presents from different people, that's really awesome," Martin said.
The Sherman VFW put on the party, a chance for these kids to meet local veterans.
"We do our best to accommodate the community, it is a much needed deal for all children to get some kind of toy or gift for the Christmas season," Sherman VFW member Darrell Nichols said.
All of the donations came from Toys for Tots, a cause near to our hearts at News 12.
Tuesday, the generosity of Texoma came to life.
"It means that they can have toys and sit around and enjoy games and things just like other kids and not have to worry about whether their parents have money," Kirvin said.
A day that reminded these kids how special they are.
"I think they can sleep tonight, knowing they've been blessed by Santa," Kirvin said.
"Merry Christmas!" the kids cheered.
