Troopers investigating double fatality accident in Bryan County

BRYAN COUNTY, Okla. (KXII) - The wreck happened around 8 a.m. Saturday on Highway 69-75 South just north of Durant.

Troopers said a family was traveling together in three cars when the car in front hit the back of a semi.

Two passengers inside that car, Jamesha Brooks and Maurtica Britt both of Kansas, died at the scene. A child was also airlifted to the hospital.

The driver Quentin Brooks refused treatment for his injuries.

The semi driver was not hurt.

OHP Lt. Scott Hampton said they expect a lot more traffic than normal this holiday weekend.

"With the increased traffic we always ask everybody to pay a whole lot more attention to what's going on in and around their vehicle," Hampton said. "Please put down the cell phones. Wear your seat belts. And drive the speed limit."

Troopers sited inattentive driving as the cause of the wreck.
